Free Casper Practice Test — One Full Sim, Real 2026-27 Format
There is a real free Casper practice test on this page: one complete run — all 11 scenarios, 4 video-response then 7 typed-response, on the real 2026-27 timings — with every typed answer AI-scored 0-100 against the nine competencies Casper says it measures. Not a question list, not a PDF. A full timed run, then feedback — an independent AI practice score, not an official Casper result.
Before you take ours, though, you should know about the other free practice test — the one from the company that runs Casper.
Take Acuity's free practice test first
Acuity Insights, which administers Casper, gives every applicant a free practice test inside their applicant account. It's unlimited, and it's the only practice that runs in the real test interface. Acuity also states plainly that it does not endorse any third-party prep — including us. If you do nothing else before test day, do that official run.
So why does this page exist? Because of what the official practice doesn't do. It shows you the interface; it doesn't score your answers, diagnose your timing, or let you rehearse the 3.5-minute typed crunch until it stops feeling like a fire drill. Acuity has also said third-party prep can hinder your score — a line worth taking seriously and reading precisely: it traces to Acuity's own 2021 analysis, whose actual finding was that coaching effects are extremely small, around 2% of score variance. Our position is the one that data supports: practice won't transform your judgment, but it can make the format — the clock, the webcam, the two-questions-one-timer page — familiar enough that test day measures your thinking instead of your panic. Format familiarization and timed-conditions training, nothing grander. The free run is how you test whether that's worth anything to you.
What the free sim actually includes
One full-length simulation in the current 2026-27 structure, built to the format Acuity publishes:
- 11 scenarios in the official order: 4 video-response, then 7 typed-response, 2 open-ended questions each
- Video items: 10-second countdown, then 60 seconds per response — one take, which is how candidates consistently report the real test behaves. On the free run, video items run on the real timings and you record your takes; reviewing and replaying video answers is part of the Full tier
- Typed items: both questions on one page, one 3.5-minute timer, hard stop — and no spellcheck, because the real test has none and typos are explicitly not penalized
- Optional 30-second reflection before each scenario; optional 10-minute and 5-minute breaks in the official slots
- Every typed answer AI-scored 0-100 on the nine competencies Casper says it measures, with what worked, what to fix, and a rewritten example line

Independent AI practice score, not an official Casper result. Our number tells you how your answer stacks up against our rubric so you can fix the next one. It is not a quartile, not a percentile, and it says nothing about where Acuity's human raters would place you — no tool outside Acuity can know that, whatever the tool claims.
The scenarios are ours: 36 original items, enough for three-plus distinct full sims, written in Casper's everyday, non-clinical register and checked against the official format spec. None reproduce or paraphrase real test content — Casper items are trade secrets, and we'd rather write better originals than borrow trouble.
What a scenario looks like
From the typed section of the free sim:
You are a member of a study group. A member of your study group shares a set of materials the owner explicitly asked not to be circulated, saying it will help everyone do better. Several members have already saved copies.
Q1. What do you do first, and why?
Q2. What factors would change your approach?
You'd have 3.5 minutes for both answers combined. That timer is the whole lesson. First-timers routinely report that the real shock of Casper isn't the dilemmas — it's discovering how little 210 seconds is when it has to cover two questions. Run the sim once and that discovery happens on a Tuesday night instead of on your application.
What "free Casper practice" means on most other sites
Worth knowing before you spend an evening on it. Most free Casper material online is a list of prompts — questions without a clock, a recorder, or feedback. Useful for seeing the register, useless for the part people actually fail, which is pacing. And a striking share of prep sites still describe an old version of the test: when we last checked the money pages in this space (September 10, 2026), several — including premium ones — described formats with the wrong scenario count, question count, or timings. Check any practice source against Acuity's published format before trusting it, ours included. Our complete format guide documents the current structure, with sources.
What free doesn't include
One full sim run is free, and it isn't a trial that expires. It doesn't include the drill modes — the typing-under-pressure trainer, single-section runs, personal-experience question practice — or additional full sims; those are what the paid tiers add, at $49 or $89 one-time, no subscription. The funnel is exactly what it looks like: we think one scored run will show you precisely where you're losing time, and that some of you will want the tools to fix it. If one run was all you needed, we genuinely hope it was. For structure around it, our how to prepare guide lays out what preparation can and can't change, starting with Acuity's own advice.
FAQ
Is there a real free Casper practice test?
Two, actually. Acuity's official free practice test — unlimited, in the real interface, inside your applicant account — and our free full-length sim, which adds timing, AI scoring on typed answers, and written feedback. Do the official one first; do ours when you want to know how you're performing under the clock.
Is the CasperReady free practice test actually free?
Yes — one complete 11-scenario simulation, AI-scored, at no cost. You'll create an account to run it; no card is asked for.
How many scenarios are in the free practice test?
Eleven, matching the real 2026-27 test: 4 video-response scenarios, then 7 typed-response scenarios, two open-ended questions each, 65-85 minutes with the optional breaks taken.
Will the free sim predict my Casper quartile?
No — and be wary of anything that says it can. Our AI score is an independent practice signal computed from your own answers; it isn't calibrated to Acuity's raters and can't forecast your quartile. What it can do is show you, answer by answer, what to tighten before the sitting that counts.
Do I need to prepare before trying the free sim?
No. Going in cold is the best diagnostic you'll get: take it early, see where the clock hurts, then use the full practice hub to work on what showed up.
